Public libraries are now rare to find. Not every city nor municipality has one. During my brother-in-law’s visit to our place, we searched for a public library and were told that there’s none. What if I put up my own public library of old text books, reference books, song books, magazines, LP record vinyl music albums — just about anything that I could collect from the past? Oh, I would love to do it! I love to see people and admire people a lot who read books, newspapers, or magazines. Most especially if the materials are old and talk about the things in the past — yeah, cool, it’s all about history!
The Stark Museum in Orange City, Texas has a lot more to offer than just that. It is a true museum of art where a comprehensive exploration about the art of the American West was carefully done. You will see that in the old time’s American West, unique and very meticulously made pieces of artwork have been created by some famous and unknown artists whose lives they endured in their lifetime were depicted in some artistic pieces. In the Stark Museum of Art, a variety of magnificent collections of different items are on display for your meticulous examination of each artwork and for your eyes to enjoy, too. These great collections include all the Western Art, American Indian Art, Decorative Arts, as well as some very Rare Books and Manuscripts. Visiting the http://www.starkmuseum.org/ will usher you to a whole lot of delicate details about the Western American artistry.
And what about getting yourself a special treat of “The Birds of America” by naturalist John James Audubon? There’s really no greater gift of joy than to see rare collections of ancient art where one will never experience somewhere else but here at the Stark. Meanwhile, the Taos Society of Artists that included Joseph Henry Sharp, E.L. Blumenschein, Bert Phillips, E.I. Couse, W.H. Dunton, E. Martin Hennings, Oscar Berninghaus, Victor Higgins, Walter Ufer and Kenneth Adams portrayed an idyllic West in their depictions of the Pueblo peoples, Hispanic culture and a landscape affected by atmospheric light. I never have any idea about these people nor any background information about what they did in the past, yet, the museum tells you everything you need to know about their lives, works, and passions for art.
Getting to the site itself is a privilege for us and that we will also be able to explore the Stark Museum connection to The Stark Foundation. I can’t wait but to see it for myself. Visit Starkmuseum.org to get the full background information about their Western American art collections and be sure to hit the road or take a short flight to Texas soonest to personally visit the very popular Stark Museum of Art in the city of Orange, Texas!
