Japanese researchers evaluated the effect of aloe vera gel on blood sugar where they isolated a number of active phytosterol compounds from the gel that were found to reduce blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels. Even though the aloe vera gel is better known to many as a home remedy for cuts, minor burns and other skin conditions, recent studies on animals suggest that aloe vera gel may also help people with diabetes. It’s good to know that diabetes can also be self-treated at home since aloe vera is a common backyard plant and is also very easy to grow for our home-made preparations. Another golden advice is to purchase aloe vera juice from drug stores or health shops and take 5-15ml of aloe vera juice two times a day.
