Holiday seasons always inspire me to create something new, decorate or renovate old stuffs. This year, I had my dining room and cabinets repainted with red and black combination inspired by the Japanese, Chinese and Korean designs. I have also bought a red halter top and black fitted jeans for the New Year’s eve family dinner for that Betty Boop look..Haha, yes, I like that look for the new year since I have found an idea of how to get longer eyelashes! Just a few days before the new year, I thought of having a bit of a home make-over for a new feel and new look. I had my cabinets and cupboards in our dining room re-painted and I’m planning of changing our traditional bath tub into a clawfoot tub which looks more trendy and elegant. Just recently, two of our neighboring cities have been hit by heavy rains and flash floods brought about by typhoon Sendong. Earlier that day, the weather bureau gave a signal no. 2 alert to several cities and provinces but unfortunately, it turned out to be a fatal disaster that killed at least 632 people with more than 800 people missing and brought hundreds of thousands homeless. There were rescue groups including civilians, military personnel and people in medical uniforms who immediately responded and went to help or rescue the people in the affected areas. Most of the fatalities were children, which were believed to be sleeping when the incident happened. As of this writing, the death toll is still rising and a number of people are still missing. The search and rescue operations are ongoing. The affected areas and victims need your help!

R. Federer routed R. Nadal in the ATP Finals in London last Tuesday.  As C. Cheese said, “There are no tears, no drama, no contest in Federer and Nadal’s 26th episode of their compelling rivalry” as it was truly a one-sided match.  Federer took just 1 hour to win 6-3, 6-0 and has qualified for the semifinals of the ATP World Tour Finals on Tuesday.

So, it’s all about TENNIS here and that’s it!  Many of us were wildly upbeat and jubilant on Federer’s victory over the Spaniard.  And yes, I do miss home, too!  I will visit home pretty soon but this trip will not be entirely focused on island hopping, sightseeing & leisure tours, or vacationing with family & friends alone.  The trip will also include organizing and finalizing things for the upcoming event, a tennis tournament in the city.  It is my fervent hope that all is well — as far as the tennis enthusiasts, audience, city situation & venue, and schedules are concerned — and will go well as planned.  Let’s just hope for the best!

I rushed to the computer shop to have it fixed but the cost of the damage is quite expensive and the time of waiting in ordering the parts and repair is too long.  I thought of buying him a new one and since he has been using that pc for quite some time now, it is just right for him to change it. Though I have changed from the corporate to the domestic job, I can appreciate and see the value of my time and effort at present.

Just recently, the city’s very own bikers’ association had successfully launched their activity “Bike for Peace”, as their way of promoting peace in the city. It was open for all biking enthusiasts with no registration fees or contributions whatsoever. Several politicians and government officials also joined the activity as well as the honorable secretary of the Office of the President on Peace Process. It was also joined by bikers of neighboring towns and municipalities carrying their bikes on thule bike racks and trucks. Some business establishments donated bottled waters, snacks, voluntary photo coverage and limited souvenir items. Little as it may seem yet has a significant effect on the peace in order aspect of the city. Good job, guys!

I was surprised and was actually glad when I learned about my friend’s announcement of entering a new stage in her life. Yes, she is engaged! Shamcey Supsup, Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up (out of 89 candidates), was an early heavy crowd favorite as the Miss Universe 2011 pageant in Sao Paolo, Brazil progressed.  She had the best answer (1st) in the Question & Answer portion of the pageant and was the only finalist to answer the question without any pause and without the aid of an interpreter.  She also topped the online polls and ranked 2nd in both the swimsuit and evening gown competitions.  To us, Shamcey, you are the true winner!
